Help & Guides
Step-by-step guides to everything on BanglaJobs. Pick who you are below to see the right guides.
1. Creating your profile
Your profile is your home on BanglaJobs — it powers your applications, your job matches, and your downloadable CV. It only takes a few minutes to set up.
- Go to the Register page and choose Job Seeker under "I am a...". You can also sign up in one click with Continue with Google or Continue with Facebook.
- Enter your email address and a password (minimum 8 characters).
- Select your UK Right to Work & Visa Status — this helps us show you roles you're eligible for. You can also pick a preferred work location and add a few skills now, or leave them for later.
- Tick I agree to the Terms of Service and press Create Account. You'll land straight in your dashboard.
- Check your inbox for our welcome email and click Verify Email Address — you need a verified email before you can apply for jobs. Didn't get it? There's a Resend verification email option in your dashboard.
- In your dashboard, open the 👤 My Profile tab and work through the sections: Personal Details (your name and professional summary), Work History ("+ Add Role"), Education ("+ Add Entry"), Skills (type to search and pick from the suggestions) and Languages.
- Watch the "Your profile is X% complete" meter climb, then click 💾 Save Profile Updates.
2. Uploading your CV
Already have a CV? Upload it once and use it for every application. We can even read it and fill in your profile for you.
- In your dashboard, open the 📄 Upload CV tab.
- Click "Click to select your CV" and choose your file — PDF or Word (.docx), up to 5 MB. Older
.docfiles aren't supported — please re-save as .docx or PDF first. - Your CV is virus-scanned and stored securely. It's only shared with an employer when you apply to their job.
- If we can read details from your CV, you'll see "✨ We found information in your CV — import it to your profile?" Tick what you'd like to bring across (name, summary, work history, education, skills, languages) and click Import Selected — or Skip for Now.
- You can ⬇ View / Download or 🗑 Remove your CV from the same tab at any time, and upload a new one whenever you like.
3. Building a CV with our free CV builder
No CV yet? No problem — BanglaJobs turns your profile into a professional, ATS-optimised UK-format PDF CV, completely free.
- Fill in your 👤 My Profile tab first — your work history, education and skills are what the CV is built from (see guide 1 above).
- Open the ⬇️ Download CV tab in your dashboard.
- If you see "⚠️ Complete your profile to generate your CV", click Go to My Profile → and fill in the missing sections.
- Click 📥 Download CV (PDF) — your CV downloads instantly, ready to use on BanglaJobs or anywhere else.
- Update your profile any time and download a fresh copy — it always reflects your latest details.
4. Scanning your CV with AI
Our AI CV Scanner checks your CV the way employers' Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) do, and tells you exactly what to fix. Each scan costs £4.99 (exc. VAT) — one-time payment, no subscription.
- Upload your CV first (see guide 2) — the scanner analyses the CV on your account, and it needs to contain readable text (a scanned photo of a paper CV won't work).
- On the same 📄 Upload CV tab, find the "✨ AI Resume Optimisation & ATS Compliance Check" card.
- Click 💳 Unlock for £4.99 — you'll be taken to a secure Stripe checkout to buy one scan credit.
- Back in your dashboard, click Run AI Analysis. The scan takes about 10–20 seconds.
- Your report shows an ATS Compatibility Score out of 100 with a grade, plus ATS issues, formatting advice, stronger action-verb suggestions, your CV's strengths, and any missing sections. A copy is also emailed to you.
- Every report is saved under 📜 Scan History — reopening a past report is free and doesn't use a credit.
5. Searching and applying for jobs
Whether you're after Bengali speaking jobs in London or roles anywhere else in the UK, our search and filters make it quick to find a role that fits.
- Search from the homepage or the Search Jobs page — enter keywords, pick a category and a location.
- Open Advanced Filters for more control: search within a distance of your location (± 5 to ± 50 miles, or use Detect Location), filter by 🛂 Visa Sponsor, ⏱️ Student-friendly roles, postcode, salary range, job type and how recently the job was posted. Reset Filters clears everything.
- Open a job you like and press Apply Now. You'll need to be logged in with a verified email — if you're logged out you'll see Login to Apply instead.
- Choose which CV to send: "Use your BanglaJobs Profile CV" or "Upload a tailored CV file", then press Submit Application →.
- You can add an optional cover letter (up to 1,500 characters) — or click ✍️ Generate with AI and we'll draft one for you from your profile and the job details.
- Some listings take you elsewhere to apply: jobs with the "Jobs by Adzuna" badge use an Apply on Company Website ↗ button, and agency ads ask you to contact the agency directly by phone, WhatsApp or email.
- Not ready to apply? Hit Save Job on any listing — it'll be waiting in your ⭐ Shortlisted Jobs tab.
- Let the jobs come to you: in 🔔 Job Alerts, click + New Alert and set keywords, category, location and a Daily, Weekly or Monthly email digest. You can also switch on 🎯 High-Match Job Alerts to be emailed whenever a new job is an 80%+ match for your skills.
6. Managing your applications & dashboard
- The 📋 My Applications tab shows everything you've applied for, with counts for Total Applied, In Pipeline, Offered and Rejected.
- Each application shows its current stage as the employer moves you through their process: Screening → Telephone → Interview → Skill Check → Background Check → Reference Check, ending in Offered or Rejected.
- Click View cover letter on any card to re-read what you sent.
- Changed your mind? Use 🏳️ Withdraw — this notifies the employer and can't be undone. A withdrawn application can be resubmitted with 🔄 Re-apply, up to a maximum of 3 attempts per job.
- The 🎯 Matched Jobs tab ranks open jobs by how well they match your skills — if it's empty, add skills to your profile.
- In ⚙️ Account Settings you can update your password and switch on Two-Factor Authentication — scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.) and keep your backup codes somewhere safe.
